material/condition: all original, except books were moldy and have been replaced. originally had a sink mounted on top.  as patrons threw change in the sink, the drain would trip a switch, turning on the light.

research: "donation box" from diverseworks (houston) until the mid-1990s and sink/trap switch at drain was later removed.

next step: have emailed diverse works  and some rumored to have owned the      donation box.  we would like to restore   it close to original condition. i periodically post queries on houston art  forums for possible leads or previous photos of the donation box.
