the old capitol room
of the rice hotel

--- houston, texas ---

this photo is of the flag room
with similar chairs >

(still hunting down more information on the capitol room)

during an artcar event downtown i met someone from the orange show at mc elroy's. i knew it was in the retail level of the rice hotel but did not think much of it since so is chipotle and sambuca.  i was really surprised when i got their early and saw this  >

i will be honest and say that i had never seen the capitol room yet seriously knew there was something fancy going on.
it just felt right.

there is a weird plastic jukebox by the door that looks like a set of lungs coughing with a magic science beaker between them.
i think it's silly.

when these photos where originally on aynart in 2004, it generated the most comments about the site, mostly from the UK.  folks were pretty convinced that there was paranormal activity in this photo.  here are some of the answers, in case you're interested:  my flash mistakenly went off during the digital exposure for 1/60 of a second. there are two separate sets of streaks going in somewhat perpendicular directions.  to my left was an unlit dark wall.  i am not sure if the mirror is in the same place now, but i could check. i was trying to take a self portrait but forgot to disable my flash.  yes, i like chocolate.

here's an article about the capitol room chairs

and current information on the pub
Shay McElroy's pub does not sponsor this site

all items shown here are currently in the possession of and photographed by ayn.
i never borrow photos from other sites and would ask that you don't borrow
them from here... well, without emailing for a quick a-ok first, that is.  thanks!
