10.23.06 --- got a purse full of acorns and yes, officer, some of them are huge. good bye wharton... ---
10.16.06 --- "everyone is well & still in berries." ---
10.05.06 --- back from hallettsville! totally dismantled and restyling diabla's belated b-day present... now it's more chandelier than frame. ---
09.11.06 --- rode in a mine train and got a childhood record in the mail. i have a recent obsession with increasing my typed WPM. asdf! ---
08.20.06 --- in the true spirit of the photoblog here's a neat photo. the second one was only one exposure with absolutely no photoshop. it looks really neat larger: here. million year dance played at helios and gave away CDs, artwork, buttons and cookies. hooray! ---
08.14.06 --- got to see my brother today! it was his first visit since moving to seattle. yesterday i bought a full gross of what i thought were vintage golf pencils at a pasadena, texas thrift store for 99c. when i went to use one today, i found that they were personalized by something not so vintage: a website. i wrote to the website based in iowa to tell them that i found a box of their pencils: here's a sample of the site! if you enjoyed that: here's the rest of the cake. hooray for nice quality pencils! ---
07.31.06 --- so the adding machine has ended. frankly, i'm sad. i met some really interesting people and feel a bit empty without it. i am trying to keep the momentum going by continuing with some other projects: diablaincarnate.com, the vacation photologue, cataloguing collections, million year dance!, short films and revamping betty kramp... ! ---
07.18.06 --- out of all the props for the adding machine, the computer has been the most challenging. i have met some very interesting and talented folks, including a vexillologist (who is quite grand). when i was a kid, i had an autograph book that tried encourage children to get signatures from: a policeman, a tall man, a postman, a grandma, a teacher... it would have been pretty neat for it to try a make children go out and find a vexillologist. today the tree took a ride downtown and i missed having it in the living room where it will return. ---
07.11.06 --- still working on the adding machine props. i have never worked on as many items at the same time. it is both chaotic and exhilarating. all of the little layers are finally coming together and most of the props are on their last steps! we also found an old adding machine at the country playhouse which i had fun cleaning up (yet controlled myself from restoring...) ---
07.04.06 --- off and on i get obsessed with tiny towns. tiny towns always have graveyards that seem the same but are very quirky and reflect a specific oddness about the town's history. i like gravestones, not only for how they look but their irony. my living room currently looks like a graveyard as there are tombstones everywhere for the upcoming play, the adding machine. it's nice to make something like a tombstone for a positive reason. i recently saw an on-line film on the 1900 hurricane of galveston and it rekindled my interest in the event and how it changed the direction of the fledgling "mudhole" called houston. --- (for previous entries click here) --- ---
